BUILDING A 24/7 HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL NATIONS
IN THE SPIRIT OF THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID
THAT IS A NEXUS OF WORSHIP, INTERCESSION AND MISSIONS
ESTABLISHED IN THE HEART OF PENANG.

OUR VISION

  • We are committed to see the culture of day and night prayer established in the city of Penang. We do this because Jesus is worthy. He desires the incessant worship around His throne to be displayed on earth as it is in heaven as it affects the spiritual atmosphere over a region, precedes revival and births missions movements. It also fuels longing and hastens His return.

We recognise that the Lord desires to establish a House of Prayer in Penang built by the nations for the nations, by the Church and for the Church.

    -

For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering. For my name will be great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts.

    Malachi 1:11

These I will bring to my holy mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.

    Isaiah 56:7

  • David’s encounter with the beauty of the Lord led him to vow to find the Lord a resting place, where he set singers and musicians to minister continuously before God’s presence.

Similarly, we desire to be a greenhouse where our beholding of God produces passion and vision to (like the Levites in the OT and the living creatures around the throne) minister to and from His presence.

Recognising that the Lord desires to dwell with us eternally (Revelation 21:3-4), we purpose as a company of people to agree with the will and heart of God. We carry lovesickness, growing in longing for His return. Until that day, we set our hearts on the one thing, leaning upon His leadership to be faithful to the end.

    -

I will not enter my house or go to my bed. I will allow no sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, till I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.

    Psalm 132:3-5

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.

    Psalm 27:4

  • Acts 13 describes Antioch as an apostolic training centre. It was a missions base centred on worship and prayer, where prophetic teaching in the context of prayer, fasting, and ministering unto the Lord resulted in messengers being raised and sent.

Just like the Antioch church in Acts 13, we desire to be a community fuelled by the Great Commandment to fulfil the Great Commission. Worship encounters God’s heart; intercession agrees with His heart, and Missions expresses His heart. It is from our identity as sons and daughters that we partner with the Lord to see the maturing of messengers and forerunners in this city, nation, and region unto Jesus receiving His inheritance in the nations.

    -

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

    Matthew 9:37-38

Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers… While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.

    Acts 13:1-3

  • PenHOP has been described as the tip of the spear, called to pierce into what the Lord desires to release. It has also been described as the engine room, called to ‘power’ what the Lord is doing through prayer.

Since its birth, we have contended, both in the prayer room and in partnership with local churches, for the Bride of Christ in Penang to awaken to intimacy (Psalm 27:4), intercession (Luke 18:7-8), and inheritance (Psalm 2:7-8). We hope to be a catalyst for the raising up of houses of prayer and for the establishment of the culture of prayer in this city, nation and region.

We desire to see the reality of day and night worship, prayer and missions established in the heart - the DNA and culture - of Penang. We recognise that this reality is necessary for Penang to come into her destiny as a revival hub for the region and umbilical cord to the revival prophesied over Malaysia.

This revival is unto the cry, “Maranatha, come Lord Jesus.”

OUR VISION

OUR EXPRESSIONS

  • Worship and intercession have been at the core of the Prayer Room since its genesis, and remain as the purpose and heart of all we do.

Acts 13 speaks of a community that was centred on fasting, worship and prayer. It was an environment where the presence and leadership of the Lord were prioritised, resulting in a clarity and consensus among the believers for what the Lord desired them to do. Similarly, ministry unto the Lord is the central pillar of the prayer room. We are moulded into His image and marked with His heart as we give ourselves to the place of worship and prayer. More importantly, we grow in our identity as sons and daughters of the Most High as we commune with Him.

We believe that worship and prayer aren’t a means to an end, but the point itself. Revelation 4 describes a heavenly reality where worship is ongoing unceasingly around the throne of God. We desire to build Him a resting place where He receives worship on earth as it is in Heaven.

  • In addition to prayer, worship and fasting, we see in Acts 2 that the early believers also devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship and the breaking of bread. The early church encompassed what Jesus commanded in Matthew 22:34-40 - Love the Lord your God and love others as yourself. We endeavour to do the same.

The new space at 30 Jalan Green Hall has allowed us to do community in fresh ways. This ‘Living Room’ has become a space where the community digs into the word, converses over meals, and encourages one another. We practice spiritual disciplines together, cultivating spiritual formation as individuals and as a community.

In His high priestly prayer, Jesus prays for unity and love among His believers so that many would see and believe in Him (John 17:22-23). This is our success metric as a community. We desire to embody the heart of Jesus and grow in our love for one another, such that many would come to know Him by the way we love one another (John 13:35).

  • A picture that the Lord seeded at the genesis of PenHOP is that of an Apostolic Sending Centre, where messengers are raised in the context of the prayer room and sent as labourers into the harvest fields.

We believe that the rhythms of worship, intercession and community as described in Acts 2:42-47 will lead toward an Acts 13:1-3 sending. Just as Paul and Barnabas were commissioned by the Antioch Church to be sent into the nations, we desire to be a community that gives our best to be sent into the hardest and darkest places, so that the Lord would receive His inheritance in the nations.

We are already seeing glimpses of this happening through open doors from the Lord. In April 2025, as part of the Antioch Assembly, we stood in intercession for Antakya, Türkiye (where the original Antioch church in Acts 13 was located), sowing seeds of revival into the land and encouraging the local believers to continue labouring for the Lord.
