Built upon the
prayers of the
Generations.

PenHOP began in 2009 as the fruit of the prayers of many generations before. In February of that year, God drew together a group of people from all over the world to host a series of prayer gatherings for the Church in Penang. Many churches in the city participated, and several individuals felt called to be part of building a House of Prayer in Penang.

A season
of Growth.

Over the last decade, the Lord has faithfully built this house as we partnered with Him in worship and prayer. The Lord provided a space at 52 Jalan GreenHall (the first premise we could call our own and laboured in for over a decade). His glorious presence drew many unto Himself. Despite our shortcomings, we saw the prayer room grow, intercessors raised, missionaries commissioned, internships and training weekends established, and partnerships strengthened locally and regionally.

Stepping
into a new
Wineskin.

2024 was marked by many significant moments. We vacated our former premises at 52 Jalan Greenhall in October after a prolonged impasse in the purchase negotiations for the building. To our surprise, the Lord led us to a heritage house on the same street!

With the move, we discerned the Lord’s invitation to throw off the old wineskin in which PenHOP has been operating and take on a new wineskin. We sense an invitation from the Lord to embody the early church community in Acts 2 and Acts 13, where worship and intercession, community and missions shape the rhythms and guide the heart of the house.
